Mike Houghtaling Wins A Thriller At Thunder Mountain
Center Lisle, NY - The 2021 Unlimited class Champion made a triumphant return to the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour here this past Saturday night by claiming the 20 lap feature.
Houghtaling, who now resides in Virginia, strapped into the familiar Bob Schmidt owned 333 Ford powered ride and picked up where he left off last season.
The exciting feature had no less than five different leaders and strong hard racing throughout the field.
Points leader Joe August would lead early on but then give way to Bill Leonard for several laps. Matt Barbour would then take command briefly before giving way to George Valenti.
Houghtaling would run side by side with Valenti for a half dozen laps and for most of them Valenti would prove stronger running the top of the Speedway. Eventually, Houghtaling would prove too strong this night and survive a late race caution to score his first win of the season.
Next up is Skyline Motorsports Park on August 20th.
Pit notes: In addition to Houghtaling, George Palmer, Phil Ross and Scott Peters all first time out in 2022...Peters contact with wall in the feature...Palmer collecting Frank Brown on the last lap....Valenti once again very fast...Leonard narrowing the points gap a bit after Saturday with August...Heats won by August and Houghtaling

Bill Profota Crowned 2022 Canadian Nostalgia Champion
Port Colborne,On - The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour wrapped up its 2022 Canadian series this past weekend at the Ohsweken Speedway Friday and Saturday at the Humberstone Speedway.
When all the Southern Ontario dust had settled, Bill Profota of Dresden, On would claim the Championship by a mere four points over Hannah Ferrell of Scotland, On,
Ferrell had a seven point cushion over Profota heading into the Humberstone race but a blag flag for leaving fluid on the racing surface followed by a late race jingle would allow Profota to claim the title.
Friday at Ohsweken Doug Gordon would claim his first ever DMNT checkers by edging out the high flying Andy Imbeault of Niagara Falls,On in a highly entertaining race which featured multiple lead changes during the 15 lap affair. Local favorite Mark Shadwell of Hamilton, On would complete the podium.
Shadwell would claim the 20 lap feature on Saturday at Humbersrtone and pocket $500 for his efforts. He would be followed by Bill Montreuil of St. Catherines, On and Kingston, Ontario's Tim Hegarty who looked to have finally turned things around after struggling the past month with the 40 car.
